For more than a decade, I've specialized in creating cinematic portraits that celebrate athletes and tell their stories through dramatic lighting, intentional posing, and practical in-camera techniques. From youth sports and high school seniors to collegiate athletes, my goal has always been the same: create images that make people stop scrolling and make athletes feel like heroes.
Photography has given me the opportunity to teach photographers around the world through KelbyOne and the Photoshop Summit, but my favorite part of the process is still sharing the why behind every creative decision. I believe the best education doesn't come from memorizing lighting diagrams or camera settings—it comes from understanding how light, expression, and storytelling work together to create an image that connects with people.
In this class, I'll take you behind the scenes of a complete sports portrait session, explaining not only what I'm doing, but why I'm making each decision along the way. My goal is for you to leave with practical techniques and a new way of thinking about creating portraits—skills you can apply whether you're photographing professional athletes, high school seniors, or your own kids.
