On March 24-26 I attended my first Photoshop World. The event was held in DC, so that allowed me to commute to the event instead of having to find lodging downtown. (Although I’m not entirely certain the parking prices were much better than the hotel prices would have been!)

Photoshop World finally comes to DC!

The event was even more fun than I ever hoped for! The energy of the crowd was enthusiastic and the courses were inspiring! The opening keynote started with a mock political mud slinging campaign. Rather fit for the town, I suppose.

Opening keynote address at DC's first Photoshop World.

One of the high points of the conference for me was a few minutes I got to chat with Dr. Russell Brown from Adobe. Very nice and fun guy. It’s hard not to bust out laughing just chatting with him.

Adobe's Doc Brown dressed as The Emancipator!

The expo was huge and constantly crowded! The Adobe was a hot spot with frequent demos of the newly released Photoshop CS6 Public Beta. At one point, one of my images was displayed and credited during a demo of the 3D tools! Many thanks to Zorana Gee of Adobe for that little shout out!

Another high interest spot was the Westcott booth with professional models in costume under great light rigs. They sponsored a Shoot Out contest where everybody was welcome to take their best photos and submit them during the show. A winner was selected at the closing ceremony. Of course, I had to take an obligatory shot.

The Westcott Photo booth "Shoot Out" contest is always an attraction.

Overall, I had a spectacular time and learned a lot from some amazing instructors. A very tiring but fulfilling event. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to attend another one. Many thanks to Scott Kelby and all the NAPP staff for a great event. Come back to DC! we love you guys!
